Athletics day!
“Run!!!!!!!!” As soon as I hear that, I know it’s my turn to run next. I feel so nervous that I’m actually shaking heaps. Before the competition started one of our house teachers specifically told us “Don’t lose. Do, win. You’ll all do great!” And I will, I say to myself.n The current runner is running up behind me to pass the baton, so i’m getting ready. I start a slow jog when BAM!!! As soon as I feel the baton in my hand, I’m off like my life depends on it. I hear heaps of cheering. I’m trying to run my fastest, but that isn’t enough so . . . I RUN FASTER!!! I hope I do Weka (my house) proud. “This is more than just practice”, I say to myself quietly. I’m running towards the cone to turn at full speed. I’ve got to slow down now if I want to turn well. Don’t slip! Don’t slip! Thankfully I don’t slip. I run around the cone and BAM!!! Full speed ahead! (again)! I can see the next runner getting ready. This is awesome! My whole house team is cheering for me! I run. I pass. I’m done.
