The epro8 experience
On Wednesday I participated in the epro8 competition, and man it was hard. There was robotics, problem solving, technology and heaps of other confusing stuff. It was crazy hard. CSNS entered four teams. I was in one of them. The man running the event was amazing. He showed us how and when to use joiners, wing-nuts and bolts. He even showed us a pre-made mechanical thing. It was awesome. He told us our tasks, and when the event started the buzz of busy kids exploded in the room. Our group started with the 2.2 metre long bridge. It looked the easiest, but boy, were we wrong. It took us more than half of our time, having to rebuild it countless times for not matching criteria. Though, the feeling of finishing it was great. Then we did the balloon challenge. The main aim was to get the fans (you have to make them work) to make the balloons go 1.2 metres in the air and then float for 10 seconds. It took us ages, and when we finally did it, the guy wasn't watching. That meant we had to do it until he could see it. Sad. Finally we did the laser pointer challenge. It was by far the most annoying task. It was great!
