My Role as the CEO
My role: CEO
The CEO is THE BOSS. And I mean the boss. The CEO is the great overlooker, decider and finalist. With the power to change and decide you have to be careful. What we do is mainly overlook and instruct all that happens. I need to make sure everything is in order and my employees are working hard. What we do can be hard, but it’s fun making the decisions. If you are a shy person or a person afraid to fail you will not be a good CEO as if you don’t make mistakes you can’t learn what works in your business. Also don’t overthink or over schedule yourself.
It can stress you out and make you very cranky and make hasty or bad decisions, so make sure everything is cool. What being a true CEO is mainly about learning from the past in what works and doesn’t, -not everything works but not everything fails, great communication for making the decisions and talking things over and understanding. You have to understand yourself, your work, your business and your employees. Understand the rights of your people and what you have to do.
Know what to do. If you have no experience in leadership or a position of power you can’t be a good CEO. Without experience you’ll have no clue how to handle your employees, so know what's ahead of you and be prepared.
If you want to be the CEO good on you, but beware of the responsibilities, stress and great power. It's fun too and you get LOTSA money, but don’t take it all to your advantage. You have other people and development to worry about. Try new things and take risks, but know what you’re doing.

The Box of FEAR
Yesterday we did a task. What is creativity? There were a lot of different answers to that, still nobody knew what we were doing. They then brought up the Learning target from last term.
They talked to us about where we were on the matrix and what it meant.
Then they told us to suggest some feelings. There were the basics like sadness, happiness etc, but some were cool like: Flabbergasted, puzzled and hangry.
Then after all of that they assigned us a task.
It was to focus a single feeling that you found interesting or fond of, and you had to make art with that feeling. The idea was that you decorated a box with that feeling.
First you needed a buddy. It had to be one you had never worked with.
Then once you were in a group of two, you had to join another group of two, with two boys and two girls.
Then it’s brainstorm time. Our group was made out of Saem, Oliver, Addi and Alahna.
Alahna and Addi wanted to do sadness, Oliver was neutral and Saem wanted to do 651 18. In the end we decided on 651 18. We created and amazing plan. It was really cool, but in the end it didn’t turn out expected. Not to say that it was bad of course. We just improvised. First up THE MASTER PLAN . . . our idea was to draw a big demon face and make that the center of attention by decorating around it, using rocks, a diorama and miscellaneous items. First up we had to get the materials. Saem was sent to get everything on our list. When he came back though, he didn't have much. We had to make good of what we had.
After lunch we had to get a box. As soon as the teachers said that, BOY THE RACE WAS ON! Everyone was reaching for the boxes and we barely got one. It was TINY! How could we create our masterpiece with that! Some dolts were fighting over a huge box which peeved me since we got one of the smallest. We eventually got a reasonable box. We started to improvise and design the box. In the end it turned out great. Our final touch was the fiery tongue. Success!

The Tomb
We finally arrived. After 21 hours of dodgy service on the plane it's great to finally be on land. Me and my boss Liz were invited to explore the pyramid that holds king Tut’s tomb. It's our biggest break. If we can find it and bring it back then we’ll go down in history and get a ton of money. Plus, I’ve always wanted to travel to egypt.
I did a little research and it shows that there's a village that knows where the pyramid is.
We call a taxi and we drive to the village. The car is filled with wrappers and bottles everywhere and the car itself is broken.
As we approach the village I realise how the town really was. Rats in every corner, people wearing rag-like clothing and the rubbish. The rubbish was the most disturbing of all. Littered across every street there was rubbish. As we get out, we pay the taxi driver some money. I was surprised how much it costed considering we only drove about 10 kilometres.
After walking for a while the stench set in. My nose wanted to give in, but I managed to cover my face.
A bunch of locals gathered around us a spoke to each other in arabic as we walked. I saw a few children with marks on their faces. I felt scared. Who did that? I also wondered what the towns people were saying.
We were told to find an elder that lived in a small house on the far side of town. The walk was long and grueling, but I knew we had to find the tomb. The greatness it would lead us to! We were close.
I asked my Liz “Do you have any water?” She handed me a bottle. I quickly scurried over to a stream and asked her to wait for me. I compared my water to the stream water. Back in New zealand the water was usually fresh to drink from. Here it looked murky and depthless, brown to the touch. I don’t think I like this water.
I ran back.
I drank my water and made sure I was grateful about. How could anyone live in a place like this? I asked.
When we arrived I wasn’t too impressed. I suspected that an elder would have a big and grand house, but it was tiny and run-down. I knocked on the door . . . . No reply.
I was about to knock again, but the door opened. The man was very short. He spoke english surprisingly. He invited us to eat but I said I was fine. He told us that if we drove 7 hours south then we would be at the foot of the pyramid. We were about to leave but he stopped us. He told us not to go. I asked why. “Nobody dares to go their because of one man. He set off on the same journey as you. He came out unsuccessful. A few days later he died. Nobody knew why. Even our most advanced doctor couldn’t figure it out.” I felt angry. We came all the way here to be told not to go!? I told my boss that we should leave. The man sighed and closed the door. I could hear him mumbling “So sad that they have to die”.
“There it is” I mumbled. It looked very uninviting, but I knew I had to. We would learn so much! What could happen? I asked myself. Still though, it’s like it wants me to enter. Why didn’t I trust it?
The man’s words still lingered in my head;
“Too bad they have to die”
Liz finally caught up.
“Hey! What are you waiting for?”
“Ummm . . . .”
“Don’t tell me you’re scared”
“I’m just . . . hungry. Yeah. Hungry”
“Well, I do have some sandwiches”
“Really!?”
“Nah just kidding”
I take a quick glance around me. Why would a masterpiece like this be located in such a barren place? It looks big from the outside. I wonder what the inside looks like.
I plodd along the carefully carved entrance and get the living fright of my life. I hear a loud crack! And I look beneath my feet. It's a skull. My boss looks at me. I look at her.
I ask “You scared?”
“Nah. Let’s go.”
After getting a shock like that I feel even more worried.
Too bad we’re going in. The place said to hold the tomb.
The doors looked barren a broken. Untouched for thousands of years. Spider webs hang down giving a creepy vibe. I slowly opened the great heavy doors with the help of my boss.
As we entered I got out my candle. The daylight was still shining through, but I knew this place was huge. A gust of ominous wind blew and my candle went out. I panicked heaps, but realized I could light it again. The place is incredible. There’s pictures of gods all over the walls. This place is so huge! Still though, I need to stay focused. I got out the map that I printed of an original pyramid and surveyed the design. I tried to match up the map to the pyramid, but the map was way off. I then get distracted by a loud BANG!
I look around frantically and panic. Then all the lights go out.
I shouted for Liz. No reply. I then hear a bloodcurdling scream that rattles my ears. A light suddenly flickers. It looks like a door frame. As I walk closer I see a door with light brimming it. I open the door.
I see a huge room with a tomb in it. I blink once and the tomb is gone. I blink again and it's there. I then hear my liz screaming. I can’t see her anywhere. I slowly walk towards the tomb. I open it and I see the bloody carcass of Liz sprawled out dead. I then feel an murderous aura surrounding me. A hand firmly grasps my shoulder. I quickly turn around punch as hard as can and I hit a wall. My hand starts to bleed. There's no one there. Suddenly the ground collapses and I fall into a dark abyss. As soon as the ground breaks my bag slips out of my hand.
I wake up in a small concrete room. It has no windows or doors. Just an open ceiling from where I fell. After about 5 seconds the ceiling appears. Gas spontaneously fills the room . . .
After 3 days of searching Liz arrived in NZ unsuccessful, but with the tomb.
“Hey guys”
“Hey boss, where's the other guy?”
“I don’t know . . . I looked for him for ages and found some shocking evidence that he might not have made it.”
“What is it?”
“His bag covered in blood”
1 Week later . . .
“Okay let’s take a look at the tomb now.” Said Liz
Liz touched the tomb and collapsed immediately
Everyone was helping her and left the lab to go to hospital.
The next day when the scientists came back the tomb was gone.
Back in Egypt the old man sighed and muttered “They should have listened”
And started walking towards the pyramid.
To be continued . . .

Mario Trilogy of the Great
I wrote a poem about how in the holidays I bought Super Mario Maker, and put my creative skills to the test and made levels on my nintendo. I then thought that It was so awesome, it was worthy of my poetry. You might not understand some bits, but only because they are from Mario.
Mario, oh Mario, I make levels for you to play,
You carefully strategize all that’s in your way,
You jump! You dodge, you run into a gorge,
And then you die, that stupid goomba, he killed you at the lodge.
Paratroopas, they fly, goomba, they walk,
but Mario, oh Mario you have no time to talk,
As you run! You run! Princess Peach is in sight!
And then you see Bowser, ready for a fight.
He jumps! You too! And then you die again,
but what you don’t realize is that nothing has to change!
Again! Again! Determined you are! You must win this level with your secret weapon; the STAR!
You can flip, and you will. Anything that tries to stop you, be ready to be killed …
Then, NO! Your powers have finally run out
But you still never have a reason to need to pout!
You CAN win! You will! You close in and get ready for the kill!
You’re angry, you’re strong, and nothing can go wrong!
Until you see him the huge villain Bowser
The huge runt has taken Princess Peach to another tower!
You are left alone by yourself without any breath left
Then you meet Luigi! Your brother who would never commit theft
He helps you up, talks to you and you’re both ready to go!
Now, now Mario, no one wants to be slow!
You both run, jump, nothing is in your way
You finally arrive at the castle, so you both shout out hooray!
Goomba? Trash! I kill him with one hit
Koopa? Nothing! He’s worth not one bit!
The final battle … it’s close
You can tell it’s near
No need to look! The ground just shook! And this is what you hear:
ROAR! It’s him you can feel it in your gut
When you enter the room he’s in, oh no! The door just loudly shut.
This is it, the final one! Reach the axe to kill the monster
He breathes fire, you dodge he runs, you run, he yells at you: IMPOSTER
Then YES! You reach the axe, he is finally dead. You saved the Princess! Woohoohoo!
My poem has just been read.

The Food Review
Yum! This is awesome! Why didn't they tell me about this earlier! This is good stuff. I can't wait till tomorrow's breakfast!
Oh! Why hello there innocent reader. I didn't see you there because I was too busy stuffing my face with flavoured goods.
Are you confused? Be no more! I am at Camp Green Pastures! (Cue the awesome music) If you don't know what Camp Green Pastures is then, it's a great place to visit. It's run by Liam, and his camp is awesome.
All right. Enough said about the camp, the food is my favourite part. You might call me a sad guy for going all the way to camp, only to eat the food, but man that grub was heaven. Don't even get me started about the dessert. There was apple crumble and chocolate pudding. PUDDING!
For the first night we had this great lasagne, with amazing corn. Breakfast the next day was toast, weetbix, corn flakes and rice bubbles. All of which you were allowed with canned fruit. The same day lunch was macaroni cheese. Dinner was roast chicken with the "best roast potatoes in the country." It may not sound special, but it was.
The main highlight for me was the dessert and the morning/afternoon teas. Giant cookies, sugary rice bubbles, oh, life is a dream with junk food. The first night there was apple crumble. Perfectly cooked apples, in sweet muesli, topped off with a fresh cream blob. The next night pudding was amazing. Chocolate cake, covered in hot chocolate sauce. I'll have some anytime!

You might not believe my critique, but what I say is true. Check it out sometime!

The epro8 experience
On Wednesday I participated in the epro8 competition, and man it was hard. There was robotics, problem solving, technology and heaps of other confusing stuff. It was crazy hard. CSNS entered four teams. I was in one of them. The man running the event was amazing. He showed us how and when to use joiners, wing-nuts and bolts. He even showed us a pre-made mechanical thing. It was awesome. He told us our tasks, and when the event started the buzz of busy kids exploded in the room. Our group started with the 2.2 metre long bridge. It looked the easiest, but boy, were we wrong. It took us more than half of our time, having to rebuild it countless times for not matching criteria. Though, the feeling of finishing it was great. Then we did the balloon challenge. The main aim was to get the fans (you have to make them work) to make the balloons go 1.2 metres in the air and then float for 10 seconds. It took us ages, and when we finally did it, the guy wasn't watching. That meant we had to do it until he could see it. Sad. Finally we did the laser pointer challenge. It was by far the most annoying task. It was great!

My lemon poem
The golden bulb of terror
I stare at the dandelion ball of yellow as it glimmers in the sun.
It feels round and bumpy with canary specks all over.
As it gets cut open the smell of lemonade immediately fills the room.
The essence of the the slices smell irresistible.
I can just imagine the exquisite sour taste entering my mouth.
I pick it up.
Just a tiny bit of it explodes in my mouth.
As it bite more into it I get forced to pull a sour face.
It tastes good and bad at the same time.
Someone stop it before the sour taste takes over!
I’ve never tasted a lemon before!

Christmas day at the Millwards
On Christmas Day, at about 8 o’clock I rushed down stairs, ran into the living room, and! . . . . . . . . . Watched TV on the couch. How exciting! Spending Christmas on a couch. (To be honest it was enjoyable).
After I watched a few videos I saw Mum in the kitchen. “Merry Christmas Mum” I said in an average tone. “Merry Christmas Saem!” said Mum. Right when Mum said “Merry Christmas” I remembered how desperate I was to open my present, like every year.
“Hey Mum, can I open my present?” “No Saem. After breakfast.” I felt like my best friend just died. “Whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy?????????????!!!!!!!!!” I yelled in agony.
After breakfast, (bacon. Almost worth it. Almost) I RACED to the tree, and I mean RACED to the tree, practically screaming; “Can I open my present!!?” Mum sighed. “Okay. But only open one.” I grabbed my book eagerly. The only reason I was sure I had gotten a book was because the size, the feel, and the fact that I had asked Mum for the book; Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Double Down. I ripped it open and, sure enough it was a! . . . . Huh?
NINTENDO!!!??? WHaaaaaaaaat? I’d been wanting a Nintendo for AGES. The ultimate Christmas present! (For me anyway.) I said I would do anything for a Nintendo, but my Mum said no. What a surprise! I never thought this would happen ever! Yes! Yes! Yes! And it came with a POKEMON GAME!!! It was the newest Nintendo, newest game, and a happy me!
Best Christmas so far in the history of my life. Fact!
